We spent 2 fantastic weeks in Florida and we wanted to share here our itinerary and tips.
Here are the details of the Roadtrip that we made and that we recommend to you, with some adjustments :
- Day 1: Arrival in Miami and installation at the hotel or Airbnb
- Day 2: Visit of Miami – check our article to know what to visit in Miami
- Day 3: Departure from Miami to Key West and overnight stay in Islamorada (1h43 drive from Miami) – check our article Islamorada, on the way to Key West
- Day 4: Destination Key West (1h40 drive from Islamorada) then back to Islamorada – check our article Visit Key West in one day
- Day 5: Departure from Islamorada to Everglade (1h40 drive), then to Naples (1h40 drive again) – check our article Visiting the Everglades and Naples in the same day
- Day 6: Departure from Naples to Sanibel Island / Fort Myers (1h24 driving) – check our article Sanibel Island – what to do
- Day 7: Depart Sanibel Island → stopover in Sarasota → evening and overnight in Tampa (1h30 x 2 driving)

And if you were wondering about the best time to go to Florida, it is the months of February / March. It is at this period that you will be able to see the most manatees when you visit some natural parks.
On our side, we left in April / May. The temperatures were perfect (between 26° and 28° ), and we had only one day of rain (and we could even see manatees in Crystal River !)
